Best Paper Prize

Every year, Canadian Labour Economics Forum (CLEF) runs its competition for the best paper written by a graduate student or recent graduate of a Canadian university. The aim of the competition is to recognize and support excellence in early career research and to connect with young labour economists.

Current students at, or recent graduates (Ph.D. completed in 2025 or in 2026) of, a Canadian university, are eligible to participate. Submissions are invited on topics in labour economics, broadly defined.  Papers on the Canadian economy are encouraged. They should be unpublished and may be written in English or French.  Papers should represent completed research (e.g., job market papers, other dissertation chapters, other completed research papers).  They can be sole-authored or co-authored with another student or recent graduate (not a supervisor or more senior economist).
